Common quartz questions, answered.

Does quartz countertop need sealing?

No. Quartz is non-porous, so unlike granite and marble it never needs to be sealed. Just wipe with mild soap and water — no special cleaners required.

Will quartz countertop crack from heat?

Quartz can handle direct heat up to about 300°F (a hot dish, briefly). Beyond that — a hot pan straight off the burner — the resin binder can discolor or crack. We recommend trivets for cookware coming directly off the stove.

How long does quartz countertop installation take?

From template to install, typically 7–14 days. The template happens after cabinets are set. Fabrication takes 5–10 business days. Install itself is 4–6 hours for a typical kitchen including faucet/sink reconnect.

Is quartz better than granite?

Different strengths. Quartz is more uniform (you know what you're getting), needs no sealing, more stain-resistant. Granite is unique to each slab, handles direct heat better, and many homeowners prefer the natural pattern. Both are durable choices for residential kitchens.
