Common granite questions, answered.

How often does granite need to be sealed?

Once a year for most granite, sometimes every 6 months for lighter colors and softer slabs. We apply sealer at install, give you the product to reapply, and walk you through the simple test (water beads = sealed; water absorbs = reseal).

Can hot pans be set directly on granite?

Yes. Granite handles direct cookware heat better than any other counter material. The bigger risk is thermal shock from extreme cold (frozen ice block on hot granite) which can crack — but that's rare. Hot pans, no problem.

Will my granite slab look exactly like the showroom sample?

No — and that's actually the appeal. Granite is natural stone, every slab is one-of-one. We'll show you the actual slab your kitchen will be cut from before fabrication so there are no surprises. Showroom samples are representative, not identical.

How thick are your granite countertops?

Standard is 3cm (about 1.25″). We can do 2cm with a built-up edge if you want a slimmer look or are working around weight constraints. 3cm is structurally stronger and is what we recommend for kitchen islands.
