Cabinet Brands Compared: J&K, TA, CNC, and KCD — Which Is Right for Your Kitchen?
Nova installs four cabinet families — J&K, TA, CNC, and KCD — and they each shine in a different style of kitchen. All four come standard with all-plywood boxes, soft-close drawers, and dovetail construction; the choice between them is mostly about door style, finish range, and lead time. Here is a clear-eyed comparison of all 89 doors we install.
Which cabinet brand should I choose for my kitchen?
Pick J&K if you want the most-installed transitional shaker family in Lebanon. Pick TA for modern matte and stained shaker. Pick CNC if you want the widest finish library and contemporary slab options. Pick KCD if you want the cleanest premium plywood box at a competitive price, or for a budget-friendly Essential builder series.
What is the difference between J&K, TA, CNC, and KCD?
All four are full-service manufacturers shipping factory-finished cabinets through a regional supply network. The differences are in door style breadth and brand identity.
- J&K Cabinetry — 18 doors across Transitional (10 painted/stained shakers), Contemporary (3 flat-front slabs), and Traditional (5 glazed raised-panel). The transitional family is our most-installed in Warren County.
- TA Cabinetry — 12 doors across Timeless Shaker (6 painted/stained colors), Contemporary (slab + slim-profile), and Doric & Nostalgic (beaded and carved-detail). Clean modern aesthetic.
- CNC Cabinetry — 44 doors across Concord (full-overlay five-piece in 12 finishes), Broadway (textured-slab in 12 colors), Milano (gloss / matte / textured slab in 12 colors), Luxor (heritage shaker), and Country Oak / Versailles / Highland singles. The deepest finish library by far.
- KCD Cabinetry — 15 doors across Brooklyn (transitional shaker, 5 colors), Shaker (classic 5-piece, 5 colors), Oslo (modern slab in white oak, walnut, and bright white), and Essential (builder-series in 2 colors). The Essential line is in-stock for fast 2–3 week turn on rentals and flips.
Which brand offers the most door styles?
CNC, easily. 44 finishes across five collections covers everything from classic five-piece doors to high-gloss contemporary acrylic. If you want the widest visual range to choose from — or you are mixing finishes between an upper and lower bank — CNC is the natural fit.
Are these all all-plywood box cabinets?
Yes, on every line we sell except the KCD Essential builder series, which uses a simpler box construction for budget-conscious builds (rentals, flips, value-engineered renovations). Everything else — J&K, TA, full CNC, and KCD Premier — comes standard with all-plywood boxes, dovetail drawers, and soft-close hardware throughout.
What is the lead time for custom cabinet orders?
Stock and lead time vary by brand and finish:
- KCD Essential — in-stock fast turn, typically 2–3 weeks delivered.
- J&K, TA, KCD Premier — 4–6 weeks for most painted and stained finishes.
- CNC Milano (high-gloss acrylic), specialty CNC finishes — 6–8 weeks, occasionally longer for ocean / mirage colorways.
We confirm the lead time at quote, order the moment you sign off on the design renderings, and schedule the install crew around the delivery date so demo lines up cleanly.
What rooms do these cabinets go in?
All four brands ship matching bath vanities, full-height linen towers, and built-in mudroom configurations. Kitchen, primary bath, guest bath, mudroom, laundry, and built-in office — same line, same finish, same hardware so the whole project reads as one design language.
